Title: Development and Membership Intern


Dates: Mid-February 2020 to Mid-May 2020

Hours: 12-18 hours per week; some evenings required


Compensation: College credit where available


Description: Reporting to the Director of Development and working alongside the Development and Membership Assistant, the Development and Membership Intern will provide general support to the museum's development team. The position will provide the opportunity to gain valuable experience and learn many aspects of nonprofit development and membership in a Museum setting.



  • Assist the development staff with the planning and execution of fundraising events
  • Assist staff with solicitation and securing of auction items for annual gala
  • Assist with the preparation of routine fundraising communications, including donation acknowledgments
  • Assist with preparation of regular membership documents, both internal and external
  • Update and maintain development database records
  • Conduct preliminary research on prospective organizations and individuals as needed



  • Must be detail-oriented, organized, and resourceful
  • Able to work both unsupervised and as part of a team
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong proofreading and writing skills
  • Customer service experience preferred
  • Experience with Raiser's Edge preferred
